BEFORE AND AFTER - MORE COLOUR CHANGES

Colour changes remain intriguing no matter how many times you look at them. Here are some more.

COLOUR CHANGE - SABLE PARTICOLOUR

Sable particolour change
Rally has kept the Ferrari family entertained for more than 9 years. At 6 months, you can easily see his particlour markings with the Sable patches
splashed onto his white coat. At two years old, the same markings are evident but with some slight softening of colour. At 9 years old, much of
Rally's face mask has disappeared and the tipping of his ears has been cut off, but he has still retained his dark muzzle and coloured body patches.

COLOUR CHANGE - RED BRINDLE

Heidi is a pretty Irish redhead owned by the Carty family. As a young puppy, the deep red undercoat and strong black brindling were very striking.
At one year of age the makings are still very prominent. The coat may stay at this colour stage or there may still be more change to come.

COLOUR CHANGE - CHOCOLATE SABLE PARTICOLOUR

Emilia from Del Paradiso Di Cani is a lovely chocolate Sable with particolour markings. Her undercoat colour, under the chocolate
tipping, is a light cream as an adult but still retains hints of the red highlights she showed as a young puppy.

COLOUR CHANGE - SABLE

East-coast Gilmour is another facinating sable. Distinctly Sable as a newborn, the colour lightened rapidly. Noticeable, though softer in
colour than the second photo, at 6 months, Gilmour retains soft reddish highlights throughout his upper body threaded with whisps of
grey/black tipping. Face, chest and lower half of the body have become a creamy white. Black tipping frames his impish expression.

COLOUR CHANGE - SABLE

Ten year old Rally is still as charming as ever but dramtically differently coloured than he was as a puppy.
There is very little dark tipping left in his coat except a few whisps in his ear fringe.

COLOUR CHANGE - CHOCOLATE SILVER IRISH PIED

Chocolate colour change
Two year old Gerbeaud from Hungary's Domoszloi-Vadasz kennels shows an unusual chocolate colour change. Very few chocolates stay
as dark as their puppy colour. Most become silvered chocolate ranging from dark mocha to light coffee. Gerbeaud has retained a lovely light
mocha colour with bright caramel markings on her head but the chocolate patches on her body have lightened to pale milky coffee colour.

COLOUR CHANGE - BLACK PARTICOLOUR BELTON

Belton colour change
Sophie was a very definite parti girl at three months of age; mostly white with a black head and large black rump spot.
Shortly after she joined the Black family, her owner noticed small black spots appearing in Sophie's white coat.
A one year old haircut uncovered moderate/heavy Belton markings. Just as pretty but very different.

COLOUR CHANGE - RED BRINDLE

Brindle colour change
As a puppy Hercules displayed a bright red coat marbled with black streaks throughout. On a longer coat (at 10 months)
streaking was more indistict but after a haircut(2 years old), the broad brindle streaks are quite visible again.
The red has lightened considerably to a soft creamy colour leaving just a few red highlights in his ears and tail.

COLOUR CHANGE - GOLD IRISH PIED

Gold Irish Pied colour change
Mitchell is a Gold Irish Pied. When he was young, the coloured portions of his coat were a clear orangey gold. Some would call this
colour apricot. The colour softened as Mitchell matured, but as an adult he retains a fair bit of golden highlights through his coat.

COLOUR CHANGE - CHOCOLATE PARTICOLOUR BELTON

Belton colour change
Maya Rose is a beautiful example of a Chocolate particolour. As she grew up, she retained much of her chocolate colouring. As an adult,
you can see two tones in her coat; patches of cool earth brown and patches of a warmer reddish brown. If you look closely at her front legs,
you can see small wisps of brown threaded through her white coat. Maya is a Chocolate Belton with light belton markings.
